What does being grounded mean? How do I ground myself?

Being grounded means being fully conscious and fully present in the NOW moment.....being very, very aware of what is happening to us in the present. When we are conscious and aware of our SELF and grounded in the NOW we are able to ground the love and light from our higher self. This means that no matter what is going on, we stay balanced, centered and aligned with our soul and higher self and we are able to control our reactive, knee jerk, defensive behavioral patterns of our ego and shadow consciousness.
Being grounded is a very, very difficult task because we have an egoic mind that likes to take us into the future of “What If’s” and into the past of should of, could of, would of....... regrets, blame and victim consciousness. When our consciousness is fully in the present moment ~ we are very, very aware of everything happening within and around our being NOW ~ even the core sensations in the body.
When we are driving in the car and we arrive at our destination but we don’t remember how we got there.....that is an example of being ungrounded ~ where we let our mind take us into the world of illusions, dreams and fantasies. If during our drive someone honks the horn at us, it will force us to become PRESENT and grounded again and we will become very aware of all the cars around us. But usually, once we drive a little further......our mind drifts out into the past or the present again, we loose our footing, and our consciousness/energy is not grounded into the physical body.....it is out in the ethers.
There is nothing wrong with being ungrounded ~ at times, but if we walk around ungrounded....out in the ethers all the time ~ we will not be in control of our emotional, mental and physical bodies and therefore we will not be able to ground our spiritual being ~ that part of us with our higher wisdom into our reality so we can behave and respond in a way that is aligned with our highest good.
For example, if someone in the grocery store accidentally bumps into your cart and you are grounded and aligned with your higher wisdom you will simply look at the person smile and move on. However, if you are ungrounded....you may be thinking about something in the past that upset you, and when the person bumps into your cart you may fly off the handle and yell at them telling them they should pay more attention......not only did you have a knee jerk reaction but you also projected your energy of “not paying attention” onto the other person when you weren't paying attention to what was going on in the present moment either.
So the best way to stay grounded is to stay fully present in the NOW moment.....this is where our power is. In order to ground our light we must BE the LIGHT ~ NOW. When we are constantly aware of how we are emanating our energy, constantly aware of how we are behaving, constantly aware of where we are and what we are doing we have focus, control and direction. As soon as we get ungrounded we loose our power, control, direction and focus.....we get air headed and spacey and tend to loose our cool when in the face of adversity and oftentimes end up creating karma for ourselves.
Everyone experiences being ungrounded from time to time, however, during these tumultuous times we need to do our best to keep ourselves grounded as much as possible ~ especially when we are out in public spaces. I spend a lot of time up in my spiritual body receiving information and writing to assist others on their journey. I am constantly up in my wisdom body, and then having to quickly come down into the physical body so I can pick my kids up from school, run errands and deal with all the 3D obligations that must be done in order to have a balanced happy family. Here are a few tricks I use to help me stay grounded.
  1. Do this grounding exercise when you get up in the morning, before and after you have meditated or done any type of spiritual/healing work and always before you head out of the house into a public space. Click here for: GROUNDING EXERCISE
  2. Throughout the day, bring your consciousness....your awareness into your body. Become aware of where you are and what you are doing.....become aware of the smells, sounds and temperature.
  3. Become aware of your thoughts.....if you are in heavy mind chatter you are in the past or future. Bring your thoughts into the present and state whatever you are doing. “Right now I am washing the dishes.” Right now I am cooking dinner”. “Right now I am present.”
  4. If you are ungrounded, focus your energy on your feet. Bring all of your consciousness to your feet....wiggle your toes, feel your connection to the Earth.
  5. Command yourself to ground. “ I command for my energy fields to align and be brought back into balance and for me to ground fully into the present moment.
  6. If you are going to an appointment, an event, a meeting etc....where you feel you could get upset and ungrounded ask for help. Pray to Creator Of All That Is for what you would like to experience and ask your I Am Presence to help you stay calm, grounded and aligned with your higher wisdom.
  7. Be aware. Be alert. Be conscious. Be present. Be here, NOW.

Grounding Exercise

This is a grounding exercise many healers use before and after they do energy/spiritual work. It is the one I recommend because it grounds us not only to the Earth but also grounds us into our spiritual dimensions.

1. Stand with your hands by your side. State your intention: (example)
"I command to access a grounding energy from below the Earth and from above to the Creator of All That Is to surround, ground and protect me in the present moment and for the rest of the day. Thank you, It is done. Its is done. It is done."

2. Bring your attention to the Earth. Take a large breath in and as you breathe visualize a golden energy traveling up from the Earth into your feet and through your body up to your heart.

3. As you exhale visualize the light from the Earth all the way up to your heart expanding outward all around the bottom portion of your body about arms length distance or beyond.

4. Bring your attention to your Crown Chakra. Take a large breath in and visualize golden energy from the Creator entering into your crown moving down through your body and to your heart mingling with the Earth energies you pulled in earlier.

5. As you exhale, visualize the light from above expanding outward all around the top portion of your body about arms length distance or beyond.

6. Breathe in one more time and visualize energies from below (Earth) and above (Creator) coming in to your body at the same time and meeting at the heart.

7. As you exhale, visualize the energies expanding outward all around your entire body about arms length distance or beyond.

8. Observe yourself surrounded by a column of golden light from the Earth and from the Creator of All That is. You are completely surrounded, aligned and balanced with the universal energies of Mother Father God/Goddess.

9. With your arms held by your side visualize roots growing out of your fingers and into the Earth. Bring your attention to your feet. Visualize roots growing out of your feet and into the Earth.

10. Bring your attention into the present moment. You are now grounded and surrounded by a forcefield of loving light. Give thanks.

Use this visualization before and after your meditations. It is also wonderful to use for protection, when you feel fearful, when you feel out of balance, upset or anxiety stricken. Do this exercise everyday to replenish your shield of light and to help you feel grounded. ♥ Sabrina

Chapter 20 Of The Raise Your Vibration Book "Root Chakra: The Body Of God" By Sabrina Reber

Root Chakra:  The Body of God

The First Dimensional Chakra: (ROOT)
It is associated with the color RED.

The Root chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is very important because it builds the foundation for all of the other chakras. If our root chakra is out of balance, it affects the balance and harmony of every chakra. It is associated with the physical body and grounds us onto the Earth plane. When we are fully grounded, we easily manifest our needs and desires without harming another. Our creations are in divine alignment and created with the purest of intentions. When our root chakra is balanced we have no need or desire to manipulate, force or control another with distorted energy to get what we want.

Balanced Root Chakra: We are grounded and centered. Our physical body is vital and healthy. We are connected to our instincts and we feel safe and supported. We have faith in our own personal manifesting abilities and we do not expect others to take care of us. We do not give our power away and we know we are fully capable of providing all of the basic human necessities needed for our survival. We are a leader, not a follower. We are stable, healthy, courageous, patient and powerful.

Unbalanced Root Chakra: Survival issues. Money issues: over focused on making money even at the expense of others (greed) or the inability to make money in order to provide for your basic necessities. Anger, violence, fear, lack of self worth (leading to self centeredness), disorganization, fearful, restless, anxious, disconnected from the body (overweight / underweight / unhealthy), lack of faith, inability to relax, inability to stay grounded, loosing our center and oftentimes over reacting, inablity to be in the present moment - always in the past or in the future.

Traumas to the Root Chakra: Traumatic Birth, Difficult Childhood, Insufficient Bonding with Mother, Physical Abuse, Abandonment, Fearful Environment, Distorted and Controlling Religious Beliefs.

Bodily Symptoms Expressing Blockage: Constipation, Bone Disorders, Weight Problems, Sciatica, Degenerative Arthritis, Knee Trouble, Eating Disorders, Aging, Gastrointestinal Disorders.

A large portion of our society has a blocked or unbalanced root chakra. The majority of us were raised by well intentioned but unawake parents who were unable to provide us with the nurturing necessary to fully develop this chakra. The root chakra is developed while we are in the womb and up until around 12 months. If we were raised in a safe, loving, nurturing environment the chances of our root chakra developing fully are very high, therefore, providing a very strong foundation for the rest of our chakras to fully develop. If this chakra is not developed our foundation will be shaky and our roots will not be strong enough to provide continued support for our highest growth potential. When this occurs, we protect ourselves by withdrawing our Spirit from fully grounding into our root chakra so we can avoid experiencing our pain. Although this serves a purpose by helping us move through emotional traumatic events in our lives; if we do not eventually re-open the root chakra, allowing the life force energies from the Earth and our Spirit to enter our system, we will become depleted leading to an energetic imbalance, illness and disease.

In addition many religions, governments and the media induce inappropriate levels of fear keeping people stagnated in their root chakra. Fear of God, fear of people with different beliefs, fear of food shortages, viral outbreaks, food contamination, invading countries, nuclear threats and a failing economy keep us stuck in a perpetual state of fear making it very difficult for our root chakra to function properly. In addition, many of us have bought into the belief that we are separate from each other and God and it is our separation consciousness that creates all suffering and fear. When we begin to grasp the idea that we are each divine sparks, NEVER separated from God we will be able to remove the cages of fear that enslave us. Fear is the demon of the root chakra. In order to release our fears we must first admit we have them in order to transform them. Ignorance is not bliss and denial keeps us stuck. Once we acknowledge our fears and work through them they will be released clearing the blocks we have created in our root chakra. Once they are cleared we free up space for earth energy to move into and through our root chakra ascending up into our second chakra called the Sacral Chakra.
